Things to consider when purchasing a plant

We have all done it, seen a plant in a shop and absolutely loved it, got it home and realized you've not got the right environment for it.
Here are a few things you should consider before purchasing a plant:
- What are its light requirements? Some plants thrive in a bright location with a few hours of direct sunlight, others prefer a low light environment and will struggle with bright light. 
- How often will I need to water it? If you have a busy lifestyle and want something low maintenance and minimal watering a fern for example was probably a bad choice! Every plant requires a different watering schedule and may require more frequent watering than other houseplants.
- Will it need extra humidity? Some plants require high humidity, think about whether you can offer if the humidity it needs to stay healthy. 
- How big will it grow? Will it outgrow your space in a few years time? A lot of plants have the potential to grow extremely large. Monstera for instance grow very fast, very quickly.
- Is it non toxic (if you have pets or children)? We label our non-toxic plants in the shop to ensure you are able to shop with confidence that your pets and children will be safe. 
- Will that area be warm enough in the winter? A lot of indoor plants require a reasonably warm temperature, so if you are going to keep your plant in an area which will get lower than 10 degrees Celsius it is worth noting that a lot of plants will struggle with cold temperature.
